Take a test

Most people who are infected with the hepatitis C virus do not experience any symptoms for many years.

If you were infected with the hepatitis C virus from receiving a blood transfusion or blood products in Canada between January 1, 1986 and July 1, 1990 you may not have experienced any symptoms yet. Symptoms are not a reliable way to diagnose hepatitis C.

The only way to find out if you have the hepatitis C virus is to get a blood test.  See your doctor or nurse and ask to be tested for hepatitis C.
